On the route, not on a call list.
Stowe sits inside the area we already cover on every service day, which is what makes a flat seasonal rate possible here. Your property gets a fixed mowing day through the summer and automatic dispatch at 3" of accumulation through the winter — no phone call from you at either end of the year.
If you are not in Stowe year-round, that is the normal case for us rather than the exception. Most of what we do is for people who are somewhere else when the work happens.
Questions
The things people actually ask.
How often do you mow?
Weekly through the growing season, May through October. Every visit includes trimming around beds, foundations, and obstacles, and blowing the hard surfaces clean before we leave. In a dry stretch when the grass stops growing we stop cutting it — mowing dormant turf damages it — but the visit stays on the calendar and your rate doesn't change.
What if it snows overnight?
Nothing changes on your end. Storms are tracked through the season, and once accumulation passes three inches your property is dispatched without you calling. We clear at the end of the storm rather than part-way through it. On a long storm that drops two feet, we make passes as it builds so the driveway never gets away from us. You get a text once it's clear.
What's the trigger depth?
Three inches of accumulation on residential properties. Below that we generally leave it, because plowing a shallow snow does more harm to a driveway surface than the snow does. We clear once the storm has finished — a six-inch storm gets one pass at the end, not three passes while it's still falling.
Do you need to be home?
No, and most of our members are not. That is the point of the plan. We need access to the property and a note about anything we should stay clear of; after the walkthrough, everything runs without you.
